My Personal Journey
In 2010, I survived the Haiti earthquake, but not unscathed. PTSD led me to therapy and holistic healing. The quake had cracked me open, revealing deeper issues. Traveling regularly between Boston and Africa for work, I shoved my journal, yoga mat, candle, and matches inside my suitcase and committed to inner work, adopting daily gratitude, yoga, and meditation practices, and met often with therapists, coaches, and healers. My confidence grew, priorities shifted, and I began to believe I might actually be loveable enough to have a relationship. Feeling rooted in a strong community began to outweigh the adventure of travel and fieldwork.
Transitioning away from international development wasn’t easy, but I found fulfillment through the community I was building. In 2016, I manifested a wonderful husband and built a family. Amidst personal growth, my professional life still felt stuck – not only because I was locked into public service waiting for my student loans to be forgiven, but also because I never quite got the sense of “YES! This is what I’m meant to be doing.” After my loan forgiveness came through in 2021, I embraced exploration, seeking that “Yes!” feeling.
A friend’s suggestion planted the seed for life coaching. Despite job offers, I chose entrepreneurship, driven by a clear vision of my future. Now, as a life coach and trainer, I guide others through transformative journeys, witnessing their growth and fulfillment. Being a life coach feels like my perfect fit, where every day is filled with meaningful conversations and accompanying others on their personal and professional journeys.
Now, here I am! I founded Turtle Fire because I love helping people. I love connecting with people. I love watching people have aha moments. I have learned that life is made up of choices, and I founded Turtle Fire with the mission of helping others learn to make choices from a place of deep connection, creation, and curiosity.
